How can I convert, scan or digitize my old movies and photos to digital?

dotPhoto does not offer scanning services, but there are companies that specialize in it. Trackable shipping is critical when using this service because you don't want to send your one-of-a-kind memories into the void.

Scanning is a specialty that requires and investment in machinery and expertise. We recommend these two services:

FOR PHOTOS: gophoto.com
FOR VIDEOS:  homemoviedepot.com

Home Movie Depot makes this special offer: they will transfer all the movies you can fit into a UPS or FedEx medium box for just $299:  http://www.homemoviedepot.com/easy_box.php

When considering a photo scanning company, insist on at least 300 dots per inch; many companies scan at 600 dpi.

Of course, this is only a recommendation: Gophoto and Homemoviedepot are independent companies.

If you don't want to send your photos away for scanning, you can purchase a dedicated high-speed photo scanner that scans up to 1 photo per second.
